Powieść "Obrońcy Republiki" powstała na podstawie serialu telewizyjnego "Gwiezdne Wojny. Wojny Klonów". Poznajemy w niej grupę klonów, którzy od niezdyscyplinowanych, przechodzą etap nowicjuszy, aby na końcu stać się niezastąpionymi żołnierzami ARC, czyli elitarnymi żołnierzami w Wielkiej Armii Republiki.
